There was a time the bicycle was changing the world. People had affordable independent transportation, this new found freedom of exploration was a Bicycle Craze. The bicycle was the first mass produced, leisure consumer item. At one time, the bicycle was the most patented item in America.

 

Anti-Bicyclism existed to try and dissuade bicycle riders and restore  Victorian order.

The bicycle survived and by understanding how important the bicycle was in the past we can keep the bicycle important today.
